Homolovi and Flagstaff #9
Homolovi and Flagstaff
After Albuquerque, we headed to Flagstaff. It was a four and a half hour drive, and we were rushing to beat the snow. On the way we stopped in a little town called Gallup. In Gallup, we went to a little grocery store and got some gas. In the store, we met some people who wanted to talk to my dad about Charlene. So, of course, that took a while, and he also recommended a really cool hotel museum, and we thought about staying the night there, but decided it wasn't worth it. We didn't want to get stuck in a snow storm, after all!
That night we camped at Homolovi State Park a little ways outside of Flagstaff. It is home to some ancient Pueblo ruins. A storm came up while were were looking at them so we didn't spend too long, but it was really cool.
After that we got back on the road! It was another hour or so before we arrived in Flagstaff. On the way, we decided that we were going to stay in our first hotel because it was going to be really cold that night. We choose Flagstaff's La Quinta, a name, that turns out my mom and I could never say right, so my dad just kept on correcting us! It was actually harder than we thought it would be to find a hotel that allowed dogs. At La Quinta, it cost 25 dollars for Ziggy to stay the night, I know, what an expensive puppy! As soon as we got checked in, Annalee and I raced off to the hot tub and pool! We met a nice family there with two little boys and we also met a very nice eight year old girl who Annalee got along with quite well.
After the awesome pool, we showered up for a nice night out on the town. We also used our first Uber of the trip, our driver was a really cool lady who went to collage in Flagstaff. She dropped us off right at Dark Sky Brewery, a brewery that shares a roof with a pizza restaurant! The brewery portion is called Dark Sky Brewery because they are committed to stopping light pollution in Flagstaff. The pizza place was cool because the pizza's had around a 90 second cook time! Our food was ready so fast! For desert, I got a tasting flight of all their gelato flavors! Turns out, I really like gelato! I got some really cool biking gloves from the brewery and we realized that Flagstaff is an awesome place to be! It's a cool collage town!
The next morning we woke up and watched Harry Potter! We really hated the breakfast so we didn't eat much before checking out and getting on the road. On our way out of town, we stopped at a really nice little Mexican place called Hankerin. My dad had a delicious Green Chile Burger that was the most incredible burger ever!!
After Hankerin, we got on 89A towards Sedona!
