First Day!

Hello Friends and Family and welcome to our road trip blog! Stella here, writing our first blog post! So far today we woke up at 7:40AM after one last nights sleep in our own beds. Then, we hit the road! It was really good for the first twenty minuets, but then we hit a big hill and Charlene (our camper) started to die out! So we pulled over in one of the emergency parking zones on the side of the highway, and a state trouper pulled up behind us! My dad got out and talked to him, he was very kind and said that he would wait with us while we decided what to do. So my dad called the GMC Motorhome Guru, Jim Bounds, and he said that he thought we had run out of gas. After the phone call, my dad told the state trouper that we were going to call AAA to bring us some gas, and the state trouper told us that he could get us some gas. My dad went inside and the state trouper (we forgot to get his name) called the Mass Pike Road Side Assistance Guy, which I will abbreviate as The MPRSA Guy, to come bring us some gas, and five minuets later, The MPRSA Guy showed up in his little moving gas station to fuel us up enough to make it to the gas station at the top of the hill. A big Thank You to the Massachusetts State Troupers and the Department of Transportation; we were back on the road in half an hour!

I want to try and notice something new I learn every day, so here is todays...

Lesson of the Day:

Sometimes you find the nicest people in all the weirdest places.

Next, we continued west and stopped for dinner on the shores of Lake Erie. We enjoyed the sunset over the lake and were amazed by how large it was. We found a great restaurant called Lucia's On the Lake and my dad and I enjoyed some delicious oysters.

After dinner, Annalee and I went to bed in the back while our parents pushed though. They finally slept for a few hours in a Cracker Barrel parking lot. Next stop; Castlewood, South Dakota.

    Ziggy's Corner-

Last night, Ziggy, our puppy, realized that something big was happening, and he got very anxious. He wasn't sure whether he was part of this change, and was worried we were going to leave him home. This morning, he woke up and we were all getting in the RV! He jumped aboard, hoping that no one would notice and that he would get to come, but something even better happened, he came on and we definitely cared, but we cared that he made in on. In fact, my mom and sister had even made him a little spot where they covered up one of the seats with a blanket.

Ziggy When He Found Where He Belongs

South Dakota

South Dakota wasn't on our original plan, but we made a stop to attend my Great Aunt Darlene's funeral. My dad spent a few summers with his aunt and she was like another mother to him. What he remembers about her more than anything was that she was never cross and always saw the world with a "glass is half full" perspective. We spent time with cousins and hung out at a lake house. Now we are headed south to warmer weather.
